Underrated Excellence
28 April 2026,—
Young Gun of Wine's panel of sommeliers, wine writers, and winemakers have named our 2021 Shiraz Roussanne a top pick in their Deep Dive blind tasting.
Handed the task of finding the best Australia red wines that look red but contain some quantity of white grape material – our 2021 Shiraz Roussanne was praised for its "irresistible drinkability".
"In the glass this wine is showing the benefits of age but it still feels very fresh. It's got great fruit concentration... there's spices of nutmeg and peppercorn... There's a brightness and lightness that gives the wine an irresistible drinkablity."
The splash of Roussanne in our Shiraz Roussanne adds a little perfume to the nose and silkiness to the palate making it the perfect partner to a range of meat dishes. As panelist and sommelier Andrea Infimo wrote in his tasting notes, "it screams for dry-aged rib eye.“
The team also has some lovey things to say about our approach to sustainability and the "underrated excellence" of the wines we produce.
"This winegrower is one of Australia’s best-kept secrets. They supply grapes to many makers. But they keep a little for themselves – and the wines, like this lip smacker, are seriously good."
Thank you Young Gun of Wine for loving our 2021 Shiraz Roussanne as much as we do.
