Olive Preserving Workshop
04 May 2015,—
Have you ever picked and preserved your own olives?
Do you want to learn how it is done and take some home to do yourself? All while sharing a relaxed lunch celebrating the bounty of our Autumn garden?
On Sunday May 17 we'll have our first Olive Picking and Preserving Workshop and Lunch at the Osteria. Our local olive guru Sarah Thompson, from Chapman Hill Olive Oil will be on hand to show us how to pick and preserve olives, which varieties are better for eating and which for olive oil, and why. She'll also have some of her own olives and olive oil for us to taste and enjoy.
The olive trees here in the garden are laden with olives, so there will be plenty for everyone. Deb will fire up the pizza oven and prepare some tasty pizzas, followed by a delicious dessert from the orchard: think quince or apple or pear. And of course there will be plenty of our delicious Box Grove varietals to enjoy with your lunch, including this vintage's Verjus and Vincotto.
