A hauntingly beautiful, fragrant red with a savoury fine grained tannin finish.

Directly translated from the Italian, Negroamaro means black and bitter. So naturally I approached my first vintage with a little caution, hoping to produce a soft, round and spicy wine like the Negroamaros I had loved in Puglia the summer before.

This native of the heel of Italy thrived in the warm, dry growing conditions leading up to the 2020 vintage. The tight bunches of almost black fruit ripened late in the season, producing deep inky juice with flavours of black cherry, rose petal and white pepper spice.

The result is this hauntingly beautiful, fragrant red with a savoury fine grained tannin finish. This strong but pretty wine cries out to share the table with robust flavoured foods—tomato based sauces, olives, capers, char-grilled eggplant. Bottled without fining or filtering after several months in very old oak, it is also vegan friendly! Enjoy!

LIZ SAYS
'The Negroamaro is gorgeous! The colour belies its complexity. I drank it the other night with a Sichuan beef dish and it stood up beautifully! Love the idea of it being the vineyard pinot — it knocks the socks off a vast number of Aussie pinots!'
